Shelagh lives in Ottawa, Canada. She learned to play bridge while a student at Carleton University in Ottawa. She has been a member of the ACBL since 1970, and has represented Canada at WBF events in New Orleans, Miami, Corpus Christi, Salsomaggiore, Albuquerque, and Bermuda.
She represented Canada in the World Bridge Olympiad in Istanbul, 2004. Since 1994, Shelagh has been a Member of ACBL Good Will Committee.

For four years, she held a weekly "Ask Shelagh" session and taught private lessons at the Kate Buckman Bridge Studio in Toronto. In April, 1996, Shelagh joined OKBridge, joining the Fifth Chair Foundation, teaching at novice bidding practice sessions, and answering questions e-mailed from the "Ask Anything" link on the Fifth Chair web site. Since September, 2001, Shelagh has taught primarily on BBO.

Shelagh's proudest achievement as a teacher is reaching the semi-finals of the 1998 Canadian Women's Team Championship with Elizabeth Redrupp, who started studying with her in 1994. Fred received many of his early lessons from Shelagh.

Shelagh held twice weekly sessions for members from November 2003 to November 2005. She is making a welcome return, September 6th, 2006 with a weekly 5-board tournament with a review in BIL — Wednesdays 11:30 EDT.
